Challenge the Chief
Are you tougher and faster than Calgary Fire Chief Steve Dongworth? Prove it!
On June 11, 2023 hundreds of firefighters from across North America will be climbing the stairs of Brookfield Place, Calgary’s highest and one of Western Canada's tallest buildings, in the highest elevation firefighter stairclimb in the world. Funds raised from the stairclimb will support firefighters and citizens living with cancer.
While only firefighters can participate in the Firefighter Stairclimb Challenge, Challenge the Chief is open to anyone who thinks they can beat Calgary Fire Chief Steve Dongworth and raise $5,000 for Wellspring Alberta! This event will kick off the main Firefighter Stairclimb at Brookfield Place on June 11, with competitors climbing in full firefighter gear (provided) alongside the Chief, with a victor declared at the end.
Event Details
- Minimum $5,000 fundraising goal with $500 donation required to register (tax receipt provided)
- Open to non-firefighters of all athletic levels and abilities
- Registration deadline – May 11, 2023
- If you are unable to climb, sponsor someone to climb on your behalf
- Chief Dongworth and his Challengers will kick off the main event and a victor will be declared at the end
