After having volunteered with the event in 2019, I was inspired to join the Cancervive Cycle Tour to raise funds for people living with cancer through Wellspring Calgary. This year’s event is a four day fundraising bike ride through the Okanagan Valley in British Columbia.
I am cycling to help support those living with cancer and their caregivers. The tenacity and resilience that I was privileged to witness on last year’s ride are reminiscent of the qualities seen daily in those living with cancer and the loved ones who accompany them on their journey. Wellspring Calgary uniquely addresses the non-medical needs and changes that arise with a cancer diagnosis. It is a sanctuary in a sea of uncertainty. Wellspring Calgary provides programs free of charge to those living with cancer and their caregivers; over 500 people accessed services for the first time last year!
2020 is proving to be a challenging year, and while the world appears to be ‘on hold’, cancer is not. Wellspring Calgary responded swiftly to ensure members continued to receive much needed support through phone and online programming. Every dollar makes a difference and will ensure that this important and valued service will continue to be available. Please consider supporting my efforts to positively impact someone’s life.
