I am participating in the 2021 Virtual Firefighter Stairclimb Challenge taking place May 2-15, 2021 in support of Wellspring Calgary. I am excited to take on the challenge and look forward to pushing myself to climb 1204 steps, the same number of stairs in Calgary's The BOW building, the first building I worked on here in Calgary!
We all know firefighting is a dangerous occupation, but did you know there are 16 presumptive cancers recognized as occupational hazards related to firefighting?
This year I am climbing with members of my Volunteer Department in Beiseker, Alberta at various stairs around the city, fully geared up in bunker gear. Please support our team this year as we climb in support of a member our station lost in 2020, Susie Spurgeon. I never had the oppertunity to meet Susie but she is highly spoken of around the hall - as the station "mom"
By donating to me, you are helping to make a difference in the lives of many! Proceeds from climbing this year ensure Wellspring Calgary can provide programs and services to firefighters and all citizens living with cancer. Wellspring Calgary also proudly gifts a portion of event proceeds to support the Firefighters Assistance Charitable Society (FACS), whose mission is to empower and strengthen firefighters by enhancing the success and resilience of the firefighter communityPlease support me and these deserving organizations today by making your tax-deductible donation online.
