Stairclimb w/ my Dad (2018)
I completed my first Calgary Firefighter Stairclimb Challenge in 2016, and this will be my 6th time participating in the stairclimb.
My Dad was my biggest supporter when I started out as a firefighter, and remained a big supporter when I started doing stairclimbs and other competitions like Firefit. He always joked "You're over 18, I don't need to be coming to your hockey games anymore", yet showed up to every stairclimb, firefit, and other volunteer/competition events, and often learned the rules and scouted out the "competition", providing tips and tricks. My dad passed away from cancer in October 2022, and this years stairclimb feels like the most important one I've done so far. This year I will be climbing for my Dad, Jeff. Thank you for donating!
By donating to me, you are helping to make a difference in the lives of many! Proceeds from the event will support Wellspring Alberta, an organization that provides free programs, services and support to individuals living with cancer – those diagnosed, caregivers and kids. Thank you for helping us make a difference in the life of someone facing cancer so that no one has to face cancer alone! For more information about Wellspring Alberta, visit wellspringalberta.ca.
Wellspring Alberta will gift a portion of the proceeds to the Firefighters Assistance Charitable Society (FACS) whose mission is to empower and strengthen the firefighter by enhancing the success and resilience of the firefighter community.
