Hello Friends and Family!
I’m so excited to take on the 2021 Firefighter Stair Climb Challenge in support of Wellspring Calgary with my fellow firefighters from Picture Butte Emergency Services. This is my second year of participating in the Firefighter Stairclimb Challenge! The Stairclimb usually involves climbing the Big 'Ole Bow Tower in Downtown Calgary, which is, in fact, 55 floors(!!) and one of Western Canada's tallest buildings! However, this year, due to the pandemic, the event is being held virtually. Therefore, our team gets to complete the challenge a little closer to home! We will be climbing the stairs by Helen Shuler Nature Centre in Indian Battle Park in Lethbridge on May 8th!
As much as this Challenge is about the fun and friendly competition amongst fellow firefighters, the main reason we do the climb is in support of firefighters and community members living with cancer. This is why I, and my team members, have committed to this amazing cause. Proceeds that we raise, and from the event, benefit Wellspring Calgary. With 16 presumptive cancers recognized as occupational hazards of firefighting, this event and the cause it supports, make it all the more meaningful!
I want to thank each and everyone of you who support me in this endeavour through donations, words/messages of encouragment and those who will be there to cheer us all on on Challenge day! I love you all and can't thank you enough for your support!
