Team to the Top

I am participating in the 2021 virtual Calgary Firefighter Stairclimb Challenge. On 2 May 2021 0900 hours in support of Wellspring Calgary, I took the challenge and pushed this retired body in 40# of firefighter gear climbing the equivalent of 55 stories, the 775 verticle feet, the 1204 steps, the same height and same number of steps in 55 story  BOW (Encana) building in downtown Calgary. My time was 38 minutes.

There is a two minute video on Facebook:

By donating to the Calgary FD Pensioners Team you are helping make a difference. Proceeds from the event will support Wellspring Calgary, a charity that provides free programs and resources to those impacted by cancer so that no local person has to face cancer alone.

Thank you for helping all of us Stairclimb particpants make a difference in the life of someone facing cancer! .

Join the "Team to the Top" with a donation in the memory of someone you knew who had cancer, or has cancer now.

Or join the "Team to the Top" with a donation in the memory of the 57 line-of-duty deceased Calgary Firefighters, whose names are recorded at the Calgary city hall Firefighters Memorial acknowledging CFD line of duty deaths. Many of these men died of cancer, and their cancer was presumed to have been contracted through hazardous exposures on-the-job.

I knew 41 of these 57 men who are named on the Firefighters Memorial.

Fire Lieutenant Mark Soehner,
CFD 1979 - 2006
